Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about the models, the data and the limits of our Italy employment calculators.

Quick answers

Questions in one place

Is this the net TFR amount?

No. The result is gross. TFR taxation follows specific rules and cannot be reconstructed reliably from a generic estimate alone.

How much TFR accrues each year in Italy?

A simplified starting point is eligible annual remuneration divided by 13.5. The actual calculation can include different pay elements and periods.

Is TFR revalued?

Yes, the accrued fund is revalued under rules set by Italian law. Here the rate is an editable assumption, not an official forecast.

Does RAL always equal eligible TFR remuneration?

Not necessarily. The relevant base depends on pay structure and the rules applying to the employment relationship.

Can I use this for an official claim?

No. Use it as an orientation tool and compare it with your payslip, employer statement or professional advice.

Will this equal every monthly payslip?

Not necessarily. The 13th salary, 14th salary, bonuses and tax adjustments can make individual payslips different from the average.

What does a RAL-based estimate leave out?

It does not know your municipality and region, dependants, personal deductions, bonuses, benefits, pension funds, days worked or the exact CCNL rules.

What is RAL in Italy?

RAL means Retribuzione Annua Lorda, the Italian gross annual salary used when comparing employment offers.

Can I compare job offers with this result?

Yes, as a first orientation. Also compare payment schedule, variable pay, benefits, CCNL, location and commuting costs.

Why is my payslip different?

A real payslip includes personal data, local rates, worked days and adjustments that this simplified model does not know.

Is the 13th salary always equal to one month’s pay?

Not necessarily. It depends on useful remuneration, accrued months, changes during the year and the applicable CCNL.

Do absences affect the 13th salary?

It depends on the type of absence and the CCNL. This calculator uses the number of accrued months you enter.

Does part-time work reduce the 13th salary?

The useful base is generally linked to working time, but check the applicable contract and any changes during the year.

Is the result net pay?

No. It is gross. Payslip deductions can reduce the amount actually paid.

When is the 13th salary paid?

Timing is set by the contract and employer practice, often in December.

Who receives a 14th salary in Italy?

Employees whose CCNL or individual employment contract provides it. It is not a universal statutory payment.

When is the 14th salary paid?

Many agreements place it in the summer, but the actual date depends on the applicable CCNL.

How is it estimated for part-time work?

This model scales the useful pay by the part-time percentage and accrued months. Contract rules may differ.

Is the 14th salary amount net?

No. The result is gross and can be reduced by the relevant tax and contribution deductions.

What should I check on my payslip?

Check the CCNL, job level, additional-payment line, accrual period and calculation base.

Are these official calculators?

No. They are informational tools that show formulas and assumptions. The result does not replace a payslip, employer statement or professional advice.

Are the values I enter saved?

The public calculators run in your browser and do not send the form values to our server. Any future document-analysis feature would have a separate, explicit privacy flow.

Why can net salary vary between people with the same RAL?

Contributions, deductions, regional and municipal taxes, dependants, adjustments and CCNL rules can change the result even when gross annual salary is the same.

Can I calculate a payslip exactly from RAL?

No. RAL is a useful starting point, but a real payslip also depends on personal, contractual and local variables.

Does the English site use the same calculation logic?

Yes. The English pages use the same tested calculation modules while presenting their own localized labels, explanations and metadata.
