RAL, monthly gross pay and net salary
RAL means Retribuzione Annua Lorda, the Italian gross annual salary. Dividing RAL by 12, 13 or 14 gives an average gross payment, not net pay. The payment schedule changes how the annual amount is distributed; it does not by itself change the annual salary.
INPS contributions and IRPEF
Employee social contributions reduce the available base. IRPEF is Italy’s personal income tax and follows progressive rules, with possible deductions. Regional and municipal surtaxes depend on location and can be withheld on different schedules.
Why an online figure is only an estimate
A public calculator does not automatically know dependants, other income, worked days, year-end adjustments, bonuses, benefits, pension funds, CCNL rules or exact local rates. Our tool makes these limitations visible instead of presenting the result as an official payslip.
How to compare two offers
Compare like with like: RAL, number of payments, variable pay, welfare, meal vouchers, remote work, location and indirect costs. Average net monthly pay is useful, but it should not be the only measure.
Frequently asked questions
Why can two people with the same RAL have different net pay?
Deductions, local taxes, adjustments, dependants, benefits and other personal variables can change take-home pay.
What RAL gives €2,000 net per month?
There is no single answer without payment schedule, location, contract and personal tax circumstances. Use the calculator as a first simulation.
